The Judge Learned Hand Award is the highest honor that American Jewish Committee (AJC) bestows on members of the legal profession. Named in memory of Judge Learned Hand, one of America’s great jurists and humanitarians, the award is given to outstanding members of the legal profession in recognition of how their professional and community activities have played a significant role in the betterment of the community. Since the establishment of the award in Los Angeles in 1980, each honoree shares a common bond; their career, ideals, and achievements mirror the high principles and noble tradition associated with Learned Hand.
